A Little Inspiration...

We recently stumbled across these inspirational pictures and fell in love. Take a look:

Must-Haves On The Road

Sooooo, we travel a lot. Tradeshows, markets, sourcing, for fun, etc... There are a few MUST HAVES on any trip. 1. Mac book - this needs no explanation. It is the mobile command center for our business. 2. Iphone - okay we are a bit partial to Mac in general and this extends to phones as well. Its the mini mobile command center. And an awesome camera too. 3. Diet coke - while I try to limit it to one a day, I'm not making any promises... 4. Clinique chubby stick - when you have fair skin, you need color. The "two ton tomato" chubby stick by clinique gives you that quick pop of color you crave. 5. J Crew flannel shirt - denim shorts, jeans and boots, leggings, you name it, it goes with it. J Crew just happens to make the most comfy (in my humble opinion). 6. Massive tote that can be disguised as a purse - Longchamp makes a good one.
Some of our latest "pretties" available in our store: www.birdsonawirevintage.com we are in the process of changing our site address to www.shopbirdsonawire.com so be on the lookout for this and lots of other new and exciting changes!

Meet Mac+Lola

We have two furry friends that we love very much. They are Mac and Lola, two little girls that love to get in to trouble. Lola is feisty and Mac is sweet, they make quite the pair.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

At a show recently I saw the CUTEST handmade gift tags. These add just right touch for any gift this holiday season. Add a vintage-y look to them by using old postcards, sheet music or photographs. Here are a few of my favorite:

Holiday Love

So with the holidays right around the corner it's only natural that I start obsessing over vintage-y holiday decor. I stumble across the coolest DIY idea for a holiday wreath. It's so easy anyone can do it...and pretty cheap too! You need lots of different sizes of simple round ornaments, a hot glue gun and a wire coat hanger. I am going to post a link to the blog where I found it but here's the jist:
Use a dab of hot glue to attach the top of the ornaments to the ornament so it won't fall off. Fashion your wire coat hanger in to a wreath shape and randomly string on your ball ornaments. How simple and chic is this! Take a look and find the directions at this link: http://www.eddieross.com/eddie_ross/2008/12/no-wire-hangers-well-maybe-just-one.html

And of course take a look at these pics:

It's been a few...

It's been a few since we've blogged and we are sorry about that...but we have been SO busy! Just to fill you in a little, BIRDS not only retails to you the customer but is also represented in the wholesale market. So we have been focusing on both lately and well we are so excited about the new things on the horizon! We have several retail markets coming up where we will be selling BIRDS pieces as well as pieces by Lenora Dame...If you haven't heard of Lenora Dame we know you would recognize her work. Let's put it this way, if you have shopped the accessory section at Anthropologie you have seen some of her handy work! We hope you will become as obsessed as we are because we brought back several beautiful pieces from market this weekend. Here are just a few of her pieces that you can expect at our markets and on the website in the coming weeks (just in time for Christmas shopping!)

We also scouted out some awesome jewelry designers that we can't wait to feature on the site in the future! In the meantime looks for us at Handworks in Jackson, MS and The Holiday Bazaar in Starkville, MS soon. Peace. Love.
